Impact on the Community
DUETkids Provides:
K-8 Students in at-risk and underserved Title 1 funded schools, emergency shelters, and children’s centers:
- No cost, private music lessons that include music theory and performance technique.
- Lessons in-person in classrooms or via zoom lessons.
- Provide musical instruments, to students for at-home use.
Our Volunteer High School Student-Teachers Gain from our Program:
- Community Service hours required for graduation
- One-on-One mentorship
- Pedagogy classes
- Real world work experience
- Job skills training
DUET Kids welcomes community teachers and the musical community. We require background checks and safety guidelines to be followed from all of our volunteers and staff to provide a safe community for the children learning in our program.
What We Believe
Music strengthens the brain, creates new networks for communication, enhances our emotions, affects our hormones, and is proven to help develop parts of the brain associated with critical reasoning.
Music is a road that leads to a higher understanding of self and community. Music can be a friend to the lonely and lost. It can be a beacon for those who may not have the support system so many take for granted.
We are a building block to enable a student’s success and discovery through the performing arts.
By reaching in and offering an opportunity that may not be attainable on the student's own or through their caretakers, we partner with teachers and local schools and other youth based non profits, to be the door to musical discovery. We develop talent, educate the underserved, and unify communities to breathe music into being.
DUET Kids is a 501c public charity that provides no-cost, private, music lessons, community service hours, teacher training, and musical instruments.

Music is the language of all people. It is our history, our present, and our future. Music creates worlds, emotions, and opportunities. Music creates synapses in our brains, especially young children. Our mission is to bring musical opportunity in the form of private lessons at no cost to at risk and underserved students. While our focus is on these areas, any student who does not have access to private music lessons will be considered. Science has proven that music creates better citizens, better communities, and better overall education. It is the language of the soul. Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and improve lesson conditions. Your generous donation will fund our mission by supporting teachers, providing instruments and lesson materials to underprivileged kids, and aiding in promoting the program, so we can reach as many kids as possible.
