The founding volunteer, a sixteen year old homeschool school student, started this organization by volunteering to teach at risk and underserved elementary students in her local public school system during her free time.
Her initial goal was to acquire her mandatory community service hours for high school graduation, however, after witnessing the positive impact these lessons had on the children, she became eager to reach even more kids .
Seeing a need for more teachers, but realizing how thinly stretched artists and performers who are trying to make a living with their art are, D.U.E.T. was born.
Our purpose is to fund teachers, artists and providers enabling them to go wherever a child may be who has a desire to learn, but may not have the resources to attain this desire.
We want to be that resource and stand in the gap.
Music strengthens the brain, creates new networks for communication, enhances our emotions, affects our hormones, and is proven to help develop parts of the brain associated with critical reasoning.
Music is a road that leads to higher understanding of self and community. Music can be a friend to the lonely and lost. It can be a beacon for those who may not have the support system so many take for granted.
We want to be a part of a student’s journey to success and discovery. By reaching in and offering an opportunity that may not be attainable on a student's own or through their caretakers, we partner with teachers and local schools to be the door to musical discovery. We develop talent, educate the underserved, and unify communities to breathe music into being.
D.U.E.T provides no cost, private, music lessons, community service hours and instruments to the children in our school systems, community children’s homes and anywhere a child may be. .
Your support and contributions will enable us to support teachers, create programs and provide instruments for those who are unable. Your generous donation will fund our mission.
